I’m scribing this post mid recovery from the recent ‘retreat’ I ‘enjoyed.’……..And while I’m still processing many of the insights, I did write this month’s guided meditation while I was away, and base the theme loosely on some the the things I learnt from an in-depth look into mindfulness meditation…..

And really it’s a continuation on a theme, more of the same on mind wandering.

The purpose of the ‘retreat’ (I’ll never quit with the inverted commas)! is in part, to help clear the mind. This is also the point of A Course In Miracles. Because the truth is. minus the muck of the mind, each moment is problem free. It’s our unhelpful thoughts that mess with the perfection of each moment, and if we learn awareness, and ultimately to disengage, it’s life-changing.

So the theme this month is: Be Here Now, and my hope is it will help you to become more present, more aware, and ultimately enjoy the wonderful sense of freedom that mental clarity affords.

As I did a simple Vipassana meditation before the ‘retreat’ 😉, one really cool thing it helped me notice was that my mind was ‘sticky’, so as I was guided to focus on different parts of my body, the places that didn’t feel good caught my attention and my mind wanted to stay here, similarly the places that did feel good also caused me to want to stay put.

So one thing that going through a simple body scan type of meditation like this can help you to see is just how your mind operates. Because that ‘stickiness’ in terms of focusing on parts of the body is a reflection of how the mind works in general. And gaining awareness here can help you feel more at peace, as it helps you to learn not to get stuck!! And this is simple, but big, my friend.

Because of this, the meditation I created this month is straightforward yet powerful. I really hope it helps you gain greater awareness of how the human mind works and lean into more peace as a result.
